Welcome to Soleus Endurance - My name is Tim Downey, and I am Doctor of Physical Therapy and performance coach for endurance athletes based in Brooklyn, NY. I began running and lifting in high school, before transitioning to marathons & ultra marathons 8 years ago. My background is in biomechanics, physiology, and strength & conditioning, working with athletes at all levels - from professionals & collegiates, to daily grinders chasing their first 5K, and seasoned veterans going for world majors, BQs, and time qualifiers.

Customized 1:1 training plans incorporating strength & running to build endurance, strength, speed, & power to help you become the best athlete you can. Designed and created for you based on your goals & experience, for road or trail, from the mile to ultra marathon - developed and continually assessed based off of your experience & progress.

Performance Strength

Customized Strength & Conditioning programs that complement your goals, whether it is for running or lifestyle, adaptable for at-home or full facility access.

Focused on maximizing performance with 2 key workouts, 2 prehab workouts, and 2 mobility sessions to improve efficiency, endurance, and power, and reduce risk of injury with heavy compound lifts, single leg stability, isometrics, and plyometrics.

Physical Therapy

1-1 Physical Therapy in person or virtually to evaluate, assess, and treat both post-operative and non-operative injuries, to help you regain control of your physical health whether it is to return to sport or an active lifestyle, or build new habits and improve your overall health and well-being through the rehab to training spectrum

Offering clients weekly in-person appointments in Brooklyn and Manhattan, or virtual telehealth appointments

Why Soleus Endurance

Soleus Endurance was created to give athletes high level resources through physical therapy and coaching that they need beyond just the miles - applying research, science, and experience to training to deliver a holistic, personalized approach to your goals.

The soleus is known as the runner's muscle - and as a result, is often a component of common running related injuries. Over my years of coaching and clinical work, I’ve seen a gap in how strength & conditioning is incorporated into training plans and rehab programs - and full rest is used & prescribed as the optimal recovery for many injuries soft tissue and acute.

My expertise is seamlessly integrating strength & conditioning and mobility into your daily routine to optimize your performance, reduce the risk of injury, and improve your recovery - from your first race to your 20th marathon to a post-op ACL reconstruction.
